IEPL routes typically organize data transmission through a more clearly defined international path, reducing unpredictable detours across public networks. Their value is not a single peak speed reading, but a relatively consistent route during busy periods. For extended video meetings, sustained uploads and downloads, remote desktops, online collaboration, and high-bitrate streaming, path stability is often more useful than a short speed test.
These routes require more network resources and maintenance, so they are generally suited to tasks that are more sensitive to connection quality. The destination region should still come first: choose a Japan route for Japanese services and a US route for US platforms, rather than ignoring geography because a route is labeled “dedicated.” If the target service is nearby, a suitable relay route may be more practical than a dedicated route over a longer distance.

For cross-region access, regional content, and international websites, relays often provide more routing options than a single fixed path.
A relay route is not automatically the right choice for every network environment. Home broadband, campus, corporate, and public networks have different exit conditions, and the same region can perform differently across routes. A practical approach is to start with a relay in the target region and test page loading, video playback, or file transfers. If the connection is inconsistent, try another route in the same region before switching to a more distant area.

DIRECT
Direct Routes: Simpler Structure, Greater Dependence on the Local Network
For lightweight access with a clear destination
A direct route connects the local network to a server in the destination region with fewer routing steps. Its structure is easy to understand and it can also cover less frequently used countries and cities. Actual performance depends more heavily on the local provider’s international exit, current congestion, and the network hosting the target service, so results may vary noticeably between networks.
For web searches, occasional access, region-specific account management, or a temporary exit change, direct routes usually have a clear and focused purpose. If loading becomes unstable in the evening or on a complex network, try a relay in the same region first. When a service applies strict regional checks, keep the region consistent and change only the route type within that region rather than switching locations repeatedly.
